About the Event

Our monthly Zoom event, on December 14 at 12EST will feature grandmaster backgammon star teacher David Presser and leading European woman player Eva Žižková. Eva and David will take us through a game, followed by a 1/2 Q&A.

These monthly events are an amazing opportunity to see two of the best players in action. And, fun too!

This event is sponsored by Sue Baxter, FM Home Loans.

David Presser from Israel is the Undefeated finalist in the 8th Merit Open in Kyrenia, North Cyprus. David was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, in 1980, where he resides today. As with many backgammon players, he started out playing chess and became a National Master as a high school student. He came to the U.S. where he earned a Masters of Business Administration at Northwestern University in the Chicago area. There he discovered backgammon – and was active in the local Chicago Bar Point Club in 2012. He helped start the first Backgammon Masters Awarding Body (BMAB) events in the U.S. and has remained active directing BMAB events, most recently the BMAB – Mid-European #6 event in North Cyprus preceding the Merit Open. He is a Grandmaster Class 3, and a highly respected author, player, and teacher/lecturer. David has many major victories in the US including the prestigious Chicago Bar Point Club Championship in 2013 and 2015, 2014 Minnesota Masters Jackpot, and 2014 NY Metro Limited Jackpot.

Eva Žižková from the Czech Republic first started playing backgammon in 2003 as a game to play with her then five-year old son Zdenek Zizka. Zdenek loved numbers and calculating from an early age, so this was exactly the game for him. Today he is a world-famous Grandmaster of backgammon. His stardom has eclipsed his mother – but Eva has the best PR of any woman player in Europe (4.79 on the pending BMAB application list as a Master class 3) and is a star in her own right. She goes to one international tournament per year, and has competed in the Masters division in the 8th Merit Open in North Cyprus and the World Team Championships in Montenegro in 2019 where she was a member of the Czech Republic team.
