ABT ONLINE! KICKS OFF IN 2022 WITH THE BIG FREEZE OUT - WOMEN IN THE WINNERS’ CIRCLE

The ABT Online! was a Tale of Eight Cubes in the 2022 Kick Off Big Freeze Out event

January 20-23, played on Heroes Backgammon Studio and directed by Ben Friesen, USBGF tournament director. Karen Davis, co-founder of Women in Backgammon and a member of the American Backgammon Hall of Fame, won the Championship division, bouncing back from an 8-cube loss in a 21-point final with opponent Sean Garber, director of the Hoosier (Indianapolis) Club. In the Masters Jackpot, Chris Trencher put his opponent, USBGF Board Chairman Joe Russell, away with an exciting final 8-cube game. Click here to watch the heart-stopping matches.


Chris Link from Georgia captured the Advanced division title, while fellow Georgian Kate Elmore (pictured) won the Advanced Consolation. Kate had an excellent tournament, coming in second in the Advanced Jackpot to Avi Cohen (FL).

Allen Chankowsky, a fine Canadian player, won the Intermediate division, as well as winning the Intermediate Jackpot, with Rolla Salbek (CA) finishing second.

Eight teams enjoyed the Doubles event with friends Boris Dekhtyar (NY) and Feliks Goykhman (NJ) edging out Roberto and Irina Litzenberger in the final round.
