KATE ELMORE BREAKS INTO THE BIG TIME

Kate Elmore, in her first foray into the Championship division at the Chicago Open May 25-30, 2022, successfully rose in the division with six consecutive wins in her first six matches in the division. She tied for third in the American Backgammon Tour Championship division in a field of 62 players, including eight of the world’s grandmasters. Her matches were streamed to a cheering audience in Chicago and around the world.

Her first six match wins included wins against Ed O’Laughlin (Hall of Fame and #3 All-time ABT points leader), Julius High, Adrian Nedelcu, Bob Zavoral, and grandmasters Dmitriy Obukhov and Chris Trencher before defeats to grandmasters Petko Kostadinov and Victor Ashkenazi, both of which were closely contested matches.

Congratulations to Kate — we look forward to her continued success as she competes further.
